About Nick Judd
The story so far...
Nick’s career starts out as keyboard player and session musician (Piano/Electric Piano/Organ) for a variety of rhythm & blues/soul/rock and fusion outfits: first big city band is Mirrors, with Boz Burrell (who goes on to Bad Company), Jack Mills (Brian Auger) and Terry Stannard (Kokomo). Next comes a succession of bands including B B Blunder (with Brian Godding), the Alan Bown Set and Juicy Lucy (with Paul Williams, Micky Moody and Chris Stewart); after a guest appearance on TOTP with Audience (with Howard Werth and Tony Connor (Hot Chocolate) Nick becomes a permanent member of the band, touring and recording their album Lunch (produced by Gus Dudgeon).
Nick then meets Sharks (Steve Parsons, Chris Spedding, Andy Fraser, Marty Simon) and is invited to join the band following Fraser’s departure, touring extensively in the UK and U.S.A. (with Mountain), and recording the album Jab it in Yore Eye (with bassist Busta Cherry Jones). Nick now begins an association with Frankie Miller; the Miller/Fraser Band emerges (briefly), with Andy Fraser, Henry McCullough (Wings) and Mike Kellie (Spooky Tooth) completing the line-up…next, Nick teams up with Andy Fraser and Kim Turner to form the Andy Fraser Band, touring and recording the album Andy Fraser Band. Following Andy’s move to the U.S., Nick is drafted into the Frankie Miller Band for UK-wide and European tours.
More recently, Nick has guested with a couple of Madness spin-offs – Crunch (with Lee Thompson and Chris Foreman) and the Camden Cowboys (Thompson, Mark Bedford, Dan Woodgate), and has worked with, among others, Steve Rodgers and Will Johns.
Nick is currently completing his debut solo EP, due for release in the New Year; title track and first single Nightfall to be released shortly – alongside this personal project, Sharks are resurfacing with original members Parsons and Spedding, Nick on keys/guitar and a supercharged rhythm section (Paul Cook (Sex Pistols) and Toshi Ogawa (King Mob)); a new album Killers of the Deep was recorded earlier this year and is due for release in January 2017 – the single One Last Thrill is out now…
Nick guested at a gig at the Cranleigh Arts Centre with Saiichi Sugiyama on Saturday 15th October 2016, and was also in the line-up for the Jack Bruce Tribute Event at the Shepherds Bush Empire, London, on Tuesday 25th October 2016.
